Abstract

Care is a crucial pillar that enables life to continue, societies to function, progress, and be preserved. The Covid-19 pandemic exacerbated the care crisis, increasing the workload with particularly severe consequences for women. Based on data from INEGI, this article quantifies the importance of unpaid care work performed by women in Mexico. The statistics show that women remain responsible for domestic tasks and caregiving, often at the expense of their time and health. The pandemic has made human vulnerability and fragility more apparent, highlighting the growing need for care, without which survival would not be possible.
