Abstract

In the context of global history, Latin America's achievements in the 2000s are quite respectable, comparable even to the European "Trente Glorieuses." Latin America has practically provided the only ray of hope, almost single-handedly demonstrating the possibility of equality. Will the efforts towards equality maintain their momentum? It is here that any conclusion slips into ambiguity. It seems reasonable to expect a similar complexity in 21st-century Latin America.
